Our Growers John Clendenen, Clendenen Vineyard Management Our vineyard manager and his crew handle the picking, pruning and other support for Hawley Vineyards. John Clendenen is a long time friend of the Hawley’s and when he started Clendenen Vineyard Management, we were his first client. Today, Hawley is by far the smallest vineyard he farms, but it does not stop him from walking the vineyard with the us and discussing things like pruning schedules, composting or the new Zinfandel block.
Karl Oehlman, Oehlman Vineyard Karl farms Pinot Noir on his Ranch overlooking the Russian River Valley. Our Pinot comes from the steepest part of his hillside block where the crop yields are the lowest. Karl also farms apples which go up to Fortuna California to Clendenen Cider Works (coincidentally John Clendenen's family's cider operation).
Phil and Barbara Ponzo, Ponzo Vineyard Phil and Barbara farm Zinfandel and Petite Sirah along the Russian River just south of Healdsburg. Their 130 year old ranch lines the boarder between Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley viticultural appelations.
Joe Damiano, Damiano Vineyard Joe planted three acres of Viognier, using cuttings from our vineyard, in 1996. His vineyard is located in the Ophir Valley in the northern Sierra Foothills of Placer County.
Phil Bertoli, Bertoli Vineyard Management Phil farms many small vineyards throughout Sonoma Count, including Gaddis Vineyard's 85 year old Zinfandel and Chardonnay. A proponent of organic farming, phil has been pioneering the use of soil microbes for vineyard nutrients.
Carl and Janet Shubert, Shubert Ranch The Shuberts enjoy making wine as well as growing Cabernet on the west side of Dry Creek Valley. They look after every detail of the vineyard with great care and the entire family pitches in on all aspects of the vineyard work.
Bob and Cindy McMann, McMann Vineyard The McManns have a small Pinot Noir vineyard in Green Valley, a small sub-appellation of Russian River Valley. This is the coldest part of the reigion and known for the very best Pinot Noir.
